The story behind Troublesome Heart
Welcome to The Troublesome Heart Journal. I wanted to create a space to share a little more than what you see on the product pages: the stories behind the shop, the inspiration behind new arrivals, and the person behind Troublesome Heart.
For this first post, I’m taking it back to the beginning.
Troublesome Heart began during lockdown, with cross stitch.
I started stitching, fell in love with it, and eventually began selling framed pieces. What started as something I enjoyed doing became something I wanted to take further.
I became obsessed with finding out how to make embroidered patches. I spent ages researching, trying to work out how I could turn the ideas in my head into something real.
Then I decided to go for it. I borrowed £600 from my dad, added £600 of my own savings, and bought my first embroidery machine. It was a big step for me, but I threw myself into it.
The name Troublesome Heart came from something personal. I’d always been known as troublesome, and I wanted that to be part of the name. But there was something deeper behind it, too: that feeling of having something inside you that you want to express.
I wanted to create things that showed what we felt on the inside. Things that could say a little of what we sometimes struggle to put into words.
That’s the heart of Troublesome Heart. It started with cross stitch, a lot of research, and £1,200 towards an idea I wanted to give a chance.
Thank you for being here and being part of what came next.
